January in cold Barna

Hola amigos!

Brrrrrr. We are very cold here, it's lucky my fingers aren't frozen yet so that I can continue writing about our Spanish adventures. Hopefully this won't be too much of a boring post which would get you thinking: "Wow, I bloody wish she had frozen fingers" (Please make sure to hum Goldfinger theme tune whilst having this very nasty thought...)

So we have been here nearly a year, and last year, when we first arrived here everything seemed so. much. warmer. Now it is actually hotter outside in the sun than inside in the freezing flat. And it was me last year thinking that they problably didn't have central heating because they didn't need it! What a joke that was...Which brings the question: Why on earth don't they have central heating? Probably for the same reasons that they don't have double glazing or electric cookers. And for the same reasons that they still have bidets. At least we still have some sunshine. It is truly glorious every day, so let's not complain too much, we wouldn't want that to go away too.

Last Friday we came back from a lovely week in Ireland with James'family. And the weather wasn't very different there. Caga tio accompanied us to Lisburn and back too, and he didn't seem to complain about the change in temperature and he farted some lovely dates and cheese balls. Gracias Caga Tio!

Now we're back and enjoying the final week of half-term. After that, it's going to be a looooooonnnnng time before some holidays. Thank god for the Spanish and Catalunian bank holidays (or not). Today we went to see the King's parade in our neighbourhood and we saw the three wise men and many other random stuff, mostly Disney cartoons, ah the Christmas spirit! It was good entertainment for the kids, especially as they were being thrown a whole bunch of sweets every two minutes. Woohoo.

So, it is January, I don't have much to say but we have made a couple of new year resolutions:

Me: More running, less stress, more spanish studying, less procrastinating, more warmth.

James: Speak Spanish like a Spaniard. In order to do that, he will translate every page of the blog in full Spanish.

The kids/los crios: Be generally better behaved (or is that one of my resolution?). And watch less tv (Or is that still one of mine?). Ok, then, learn Swedish?

Anyway, that's it for today. Pretty boring stuff really. Too make it go easier on you, here is a tune you might enjoy:

Bye for now,

Cécile
